At The Cut: 2024

How busy does a recording studio have to be for it to neglect to post on their web site for 626 days? Well, we were THAT busy. We have proof:

After a long and loving buildout, a brand-new music venue, The Cut Live, opened its doors upstairs from Bang-A-Song on January 13th, 2024, and man did the music roll in. The first show on the stage was Willie Alexander’s sold-out 80th birthday extravaganza, and the second was a sold-out SAFETY show. Thanks to an amazing venue team, The Cut proceeded to welcome too many inspirational musicians to list over the next twelve months. At Bang-A-Song, we were lucky enough to live-mix these shows, to record these shows, to play (a few) of these shows, and to be invited to participate in ways large and small in the lives of working musicians who played upstairs. Some artists we’d admired from a distance and met for the first time (Lenny Kaye and Nuggets) and some we’ve long admired up close and repeatedly over the years (NRBQ).

Our ‘In The Studio’ posts will continue to highlight the new releases recorded “Live from The Cut” and/or “Live from Bang-A-Song” in 2025 and beyond, and 2024 will go down as the busiest, most productive, and most inspirational year in Bang-A-Song’s history.
